Having Fun With Elvis Memorabilia

Do you feel like you’re caught in a trap, one so strong that you just can’t walk out? Is it because you love Elvis memorabilia too much? I can empathize; my mind doesn’t grow suspicious when you proclaim your love for all things Elvis. I can see what they’re doing to you, and I do believe every word you say. Well you are not alone. Collectibles which have anything to do at all with Elvis Presley have been wildly popular for years. They continue today to captivate collectors and Presley fans from around the world.

The range of memorabilia is wide. From strange to clever to downright expensive, you can find pretty much anything. In 2009, at an auction of a few of Presley’s personal items, a bidder paid over $200,000 for a blue jumpsuit with cape and gold lining which had been worn by Elvis at Madison Square Garden in 1972. A ring of 14K gold and diamonds featuring the face of an owl went for $40,000.

Of course not every piece of memorabilia will be so pricey. Regular checking in at online auction sites as well as retail shops that allow the public to sell their stuff could score you a good deal. Yard sales and garage sales, flea markets, even your own attic could turn up something of value to you.

Two hugely popular pieces of memorabilia are autographs and records. An authentic Elvis signature on a record cover, magazine article or poster is often quite valuable and is difficult to get outside of an auction. Since there are so many Elvis recordings, collecting 45 records and albums can seem endless. A lot of folks like to hang their Elvis records or otherwise display them rather than actually play them.

Do you worry that you will be cold on a winter night? Or in a cold Kentucky rain? Do not fear! Elvis has you covered-literally. There is a plethora of bedding, blankets, throws, fleeces, and quilts, featuring the face of The King, to keep you warm. Many times they come in their own collector’s storage tins. Of course you can’t forget the pillows. Elvis is on a large number of pillows too. What better way to get a good rest at the airport during a layover than by resting your head on a comfy Elvis travel pillow?

Elvis fans are not limited to any particular age group. Fans of all ages love him. Maybe you have kids who are part of the newest generation of fans. I bet they would like to have their own Elvis lunchboxes. How about the “Love Me Tender” pink lunchbox with thermos to match? After lunch, everyone can enjoy a fun game of Elvisopoly.

If you are having problems rounding out your collection of all things Elvis, then perhaps a close look at non-traditional items is in order. One thing worth a look is the ceiling fan pull figurine. One quick yank on Elvis and voila your room will be as cool as he is. And why not wake up to Elvis? Alarm clocks with his image on the dial face are readily available. For the more discerning fan, you can purchase an upscale pendulum clock with Elvis’ legs acting as the pendulums.

It is entirely acceptable to have such a burning love for Elvis memorabilia that you surrender your reason. Presley was and still is an icon of music culture. His star will glow brightly well into the future.
